We are excited to announce the latest update for SOLIDWORKS: R2025x FD01. This Functional Delivery (FD) release introduces significant enhancements to streamline design workflows, improve collaboration, and boost efficiency. Key updates include automatic generation of industry-standard drawings, a simplified user interface, and various improvements in Bill of Materials (BOM) management. Let’s explore these new capabilities.
1. 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Ultimate – A Comprehensive Toolset from Concept to Manufacturing
Based on user feedback, 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Ultimate is now a permanent offering in our product lineup. This package includes powerful cloud-based tools for 3D design, real-time collaboration, lifecycle management, product structure organization, simulation, photorealistic rendering, and immersive experiences. With browser-based design tools and integrated project management, teams can seamlessly work across various stages of product development.

2. Automatically Generate Drawings – Save Time and Improve Accuracy
With this release, you can automatically generate 2D drawings for parts and assemblies with just a click. The system will create views, formats, tables, and dimensions required for manufacturing, reducing repetitive tasks and allowing engineers to focus more on design. This automation ensures efficiency and consistency in documentation.

3. Simplified User Interface – Enhanced Focus on Design
A new “Simplified Interface” option under the View Workspace provides an uncluttered interface tailored to the type of document you are working on. Users can customize this workspace, and SOLIDWORKS will retain these preferences even when switching between standard and simplified modes.

4. Configuration Tables for Drawings – Improve Communication of Product Variations
Family Tables enable users to display variations in part and assembly configurations within SOLIDWORKS drawings. This feature enhances clarity when documenting design variations or custom properties.

5. Flattened BOM Option – Instantly Summarize Part Quantities
Previously, calculating total part quantities in BOMs required manual adjustments or macros. The new ‘Flattened’ BOM type provides an automatic way to list all components along with their total usage across assemblies, significantly simplifying BOM management.

6. Filter BOM Based on Display States – Create BOMs for Visible Components
Users can now filter BOMs based on Display States, allowing them to generate a BOM that includes only visible components. This ensures greater control and customization when managing large assemblies.

7. Physical Product Creation on the Platform – Streamlined Data Management
SOLIDWORKS now allows users to create Physical Products directly on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Similar to creating standard parts or assemblies, this new workflow enables users to assign attributes such as project number, project name, and manufactured/purchased status, ensuring better data organization and collaboration.

8. Use Sketch Point as an End Point – Greater Flexibility for Edge Flanges
When designing sheet metal parts, users can now define edge flange lengths using a sketch point. This added flexibility allows for more precise control over sheet metal modeling.

9. Support for DimXpert Dimensions in Library Features – Standardization and Efficiency
DimXpert dimensions can now be saved to library feature parts, enabling users to reuse them when applying features to models. This update promotes standardization and eliminates the need to re-dimension parts, saving time and ensuring consistency.

10. Prevent Unwanted Large Component Displacements – Improved Assembly Control
Dragging components or modifying mates can sometimes lead to unintended large movements. This update introduces a warning system that alerts users when such displacements occur, preventing errors and ensuring better assembly integrity.

These enhancements in SOLIDWORKS R2025x FD01 are designed to improve productivity, simplify workflows, and enhance collaboration. Whether you are working with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS or SOLIDWORKS with Cloud Services, these new features provide greater flexibility and efficiency in your design process.
